Boots are an investment and should therefore, be treated like it. Caring for your boots, no matter the brand or style, will ensure that they are better able to hold up to whatever you may put them through!

The first step to clean the boots so that they are free from dirt and any other fine particles. This step is essential because these particles can act like little blades scraping away at the fibers of the skin in addition to deteriorating the leather. We recommend wiping them off with a damp cloth and incorporating the use of denatured alcohol, when needed, to ensure that they are cleaned off without furthering the damage. However, you will want to refrain from soaking the boots!

Next, especially after the leather has encountered any foreign moisture (including cleaning), you want to restore the natural moisture of the boots with a leather conditioner. We sell various types that we prefer to use, all include instructions for use on the bottle. Be sure to pay attention to the specific conditioner you are using and what it may be for – the bottle should tell you whether it is darkening/non darkening, the type of leather it is best used with, and how it is best used. This should always be done AFTER cleaning the boots.

Wax and polish should never be considered as a substitute for conditioning, but can be applied once the conditioner on the boots has dried.

Please allow your boots ample time to dry, away from direct sunlight or heat of any kind. Due to the nature of leather, it can even be suggested that you wear them until they are dry to ensure that they do not shrink. However, avoiding heat will help minimize the shrinkage.

If you have any questions or hesitations at all, please feel free to reach out to us! We sincerely enjoy talking about boots and are happy to help any way that we can!
